Mousse tire inserts: fit, condition and mousse lube

Mousses replace the inner tube in an off-road tire. Check the specific tire-and-insert combination and its history before deciding whether a new or used mousse fits your ride.

Start with the tire and the manufacturer's fitment

Record the tire's brand, model and full sidewall size, along with the wheel size. Then use the mousse manufacturer's fitment guidance for that combination. The motorcycle make alone is not enough to select an insert: two KTM or Husky bikes can be wearing different tires.

Michelin describes Bib Mousse as a foam insert for off-road use and publishes its own tire compatibility, care and service-life guidance. Those specifications belong to that product. Do not assume a different manufacturer's mousse has the same fitment or limits.

A used mousse needs a history

Ask for its exact model, manufacture or packaging date where available, installation date and the tire it was fitted in. Collect photos and information about how it has been used and stored. A low asking price does not establish remaining service life.

Look up the manufacturer's criteria before deciding whether to reuse an insert. If the history is unknown, leave it unknown in the listing. The same approach applies to a used wheel-and-tire package: identify what is inside rather than assuming that a mousse is included.

Mousse Juice and routine care

Mousse Juice is our mousse-lube business. Its website currently takes you to the Mousse Juice information at Adventure Baja. Visit that page for current product information and purchasing options. Use the insert manufacturer's instructions to confirm lubricant suitability and the required installation and care process.

For a Baja trip or desert ride, decide how your tire setup fits the actual route before choosing parts. An off-road insert specification is not a claim of suitability for public-road sections. Keep your tire, insert and riding requirements together when asking a supplier for advice.
